This round, your challenge is to incorporate supernatural creatures somehow. Zombies, ghosts, werewolves, and of course vampires/rainbow drinkers are all welcome! Make sure the supernatural aspects of your entry are dealt with in a substantial way—ideally it shouldn't just be a throwaway line.

I'm totally gonna get on this! Some ideas to toss around: Werewolf Jade, Cuttlefish/squid/octopus Feferi are probably the most obvious. Maybe a forbidden or tragic romance?

Oh man so excited.

The tragic romance thing made me think of an old ghost story where a girl dies, and rather than accepting this, her lover is convinced that she is actually just lost in the swamps. He goes out to find her and, at some point, sees what he believes to be a spectral apportion of her floating above the waters of a lake. He hastily builds a raft to sail out to her, but it sinks and he drowns. According to legend, the two could be seen for then after as ghosts upon that raft, something something something. I have it in a book somewhere, I'll scan it if anyone's interested.

No idea what to do with it, but I figured, hey, maybe it will inspire someone else!

But why would we go with something subtle? Monstersssssssssss...

ACTUALLY, WAIT. I just had an awesome idea.

So obviously there's a tremendous amount of Lovecraftian influence within the MSPA universe already, but it's a natural place to go with this round. There's the Cthulhu, Old Ones, Mountains of Madness areas, which would be cool of course, but then there's my personal favorite Lovecraft story,

THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH. It's available at Amazon and online HERE if anyone is inclined to read it, but it's just completely awesome. The main antagonistic force, and why it came to my mind, are ""the remnants of the last race of amphibious human beings", and described at one point as having, "...round, fixed, fishy eyes, and soft, slaty skin. But the horror of the thing were the two gills that swelled and relaxed spasmodically."

I just can't stop picturing hideous, smiling, adorable Feferi, all gills, scales, webs, and fins, with terrified, 1929 North-easterner Jade. Almost, perhaps, the making of a horror love story?

Another idea! Tragic love ("love") story in which Jade is just a normal human girl and Feferi is some sort of water demon, like a siren or a rusalka, and lures Jade to her death. Not a nice or cute story, but might be neat!

Hey guys... Do you think witches count?? After all, it's one of the main things Feferi and Jade have in common!

I really love all these tragic/horror ideas though, that genre is delicious <3

I think you could definitely use witches into the prompt! Even if they don't count as monsters, they could use some sort of spell to create a monster, or raise a zombie/ghost/vampire/etc.

Oh wow, I have a great mental image of Jade and Feferi summoning some horrorterrors now.

List o' ideas. Like last time, anyone is free to use/collab on these. Mostly fanart based:

1. Doggy/wolf Jade staring wistfully into water, touching the surface, while octo-Jade touches her hand from beneath the water.
2. A short comic of siren/rusalka/etc Feferi luring Jade to the water. Implied death/drowning. Dark, but I like it. R2 is short though, so I may make this into a single picture. Might make a good fic though!
3. Doggy/wolf Jade lapping water at a lake/pond/etc, and fish/octo/etc Feferi pops up and surprises her, then kisses Jade.
4. Water elemental/nymph Feferi and plant elemental/nymph Jade embracing each other and intertwining. Different, but I was trying to think of something other than dogs/fish motif. I like this idea too.

I really like 2 and 4, just because they're just different approaches and would totally hit someone in a different way than most of these entries probably will. If you end up doing #2 I could do a panel or two or something so you can still have the whole shebang and get it in on time! (I'm really excited to collab with people in these rounds, so sorry if that wasn't what you were fishing for haha.) Oooh and wouldn't a wordless comic be really interesting too, for it? (although you could still include a fic but in the actual images, you know, bah I should stop talking x_x)

Also another idea I just had! I recall the legend presented in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies about mermaids, how they were these startling beautiful creatures that you could lure out from the water with a love song, and once they found you, they'd enchant you and when you let your guard down they'd drag you to the ocean floor to die. However, the only way to survive being dragged down is if the mermaid gave you a kiss! Idk, kinda cheesy but would be a really cute alternate ending for these horror stories we've been brainstorming. (even though I love them so)

Man you guys are all awesome; I'm so inspired! I love the "dragged under" ideas, and I must say, being able to give that a cute ending is a really inspiring challenge... :)

oh man I am all over monster feferi. the only ideas I really have. . .well, I remember we brought up a diver jade last round. what if jade is diving and encounters fishy monster feferi?

Aughhhhh that's a fantastic idea, but diver Jade is what we submitted for the first round. If we make it definitively different, like perhaps a short comic or something, then we might be able to pull it off though. Besides, nobody can blame us for doing too many water scenes.

Perhaps a hard-helmet diving suit or something? Those are fun to draw.

Alright from there, does somebody want to write a tiny, tiny fic or drabble of some sort about Jade the hard-helmet diver/exploror encountering Fef, the hideous (or adorable, strange, whatever) undersea monstrosity?

I want to do another panel of a face on view of jade in the helmet, but it seems silly to do two panels... with nothing else. I mean, I might be able to pull off a wordless comic and I'll work on that today (ending with a kiss if I can pull it off!), but I aim to ~~shove work off on~~ inspire others!

Wooow, yes I really like this!!

Nice pacing with the panels, I especially like how you see just the corner of Feferi's tail, though I think you could put a bit more of it in view just to make it clearer.

This would make a really elegant and lovely entry if you finish it!

I wonder what the time limit for voice acting is though..? I couldn't see anything specified for it. Might need to check that out.

Yes!! I love this! I'm not sure what the image max is either, but I like the amount you've got. Enough to tell the story, but also leaves you hanging a bit (in a good way!)

This is really beautiful. The details on the waves, Feferi's hair, the colours... I can't just stare at one place!

If I had more time I would have loved to experiment a bit more with the animation and somehow incorporate in the video.

I want to keep some of it a surprise, but I figured I'd upload one panel of the comic that's been completely finished--I'd love some feedback on the color of the music notes and the words. I was thinking of making them feferi's blood color but that was pretty unreadable and clashed with the rest of the picture.
